Joe Bonamassa – 2009-03-08 – Turner Hall Ballroom, Milwaukee, WI
Joe Bonamassa is an American blues rock guitarist who started playing guitar at the age of four. His father exposed him to British blues rock albums by Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. That was all it took to give Joe the blues inspiration. In 1989, at 12, he had a band called Smokin’ Joe Bonamassa, that gigged through New York state and Pennsylvania on weekends. Although Joe is most likely to be playing a Gibson now days, at that time he was using a 1972 Fender Stratocaster that his father bought for him. It was when he was 12, he opened for B.B. King at around twenty shows. Before he was 18, he was playing guitar with a band called, Bloodline that contained the sons of Berry Oakley, Miles Davis and Robby Krieger. Bloodline never really went anywhere, but it served to attract attention to Bonamassa’s guitar skills. His debut album, A New Day Yesterday, was released in 2000 and reached #9 on the Billboard Blues Chart. Eleven of his solo albums have reached #1 on that same chart. This concert is from 2009, the same year that he performed at Royal Albert Hall alongside Eric Clapton.
ACDC – 2015-04-10 – Coachella Festival, CA
ACDC is an Australian hard rock or blues rock band formed in 1973 by Angus and Malcolm Young. This concert the tour in support of their newest album, released late 2014, Rock or Bust. This was the first album in their 42 year history that was recorded without Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar. He has permanently retired from the band due to his health, and replacing him is Angus and Malcolm’s nephew, Stevie Young. This is not the first time that Stevie has replaced Malcolm. However the last time was temporary, and was only during the 1988 tour supporting Blow Up Your Video, when Malcolm announced that he was taking time off in order to begin his recovery from alcoholism. That album, by the way, was produced once again by ACDC’s original producers, Harry Vanda and George Young. It was George Young that recorded the first album that Angus and Malcolm played on. It was by George’s band, and was The Marcus Hook Roll Band – Tales of Old Grand Daddy. Also on the album were older brothers George and Alex. If you haven’t listened to it, you should check it out.
