Deep Purple – 1993.10.19 – Le Zenith, Paris, France [SBD]

Deep Purple is an English rock band Deep Purple 93 Frontformed in 1968 in Hertford, England.  The band saw several lineup changes in the years before their eight year hiatus  from 1976-1984.  These lineups during the years 1968-1976 are commonly referred to as Mark I, II, III and IV.  Deep Purple were ranked 22nd on VH1’s Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.  They have been nominated in October 2012, and then again in October 2013 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but weren’t voted in.  Deep Purple, along with Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as “The unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the Deep Purple 93 Backearly to mid-seventies”.  Their Mark II lineup was by far the most successful of their lineups.  This configuration was comprised of Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Ian Gillan (vocals), Jon Lord (organ), Roger Glover (bass), and Ian Paice (drums).  This concert is that lineup, several years after they reunited in 1985.  This membership has been the most stable in the band’s history, and after Jon Lord’s retirement in 2002, left Ian Paice as the band’s only original member.  Lord unfortunately passed away in July 2012 due to pancreatic cancer and a pulmonary embolism.

Pink Floyd – 1994.03.30 – Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami, FL [SBD]

Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and Pink Floyd 94 Front Coverpsychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in the history of popular music. Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by students Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. They gained popularity performing in London’s underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett’s leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the band’s Pink Floyd 94 Back Coverprimary lyricist and conceptual leader, devising the concepts behind their albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983). The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall became two of the best-selling albums of all time. Following creative tensions, Wright left Pink Floyd in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985. Gilmour and Mason continued as Pink Floyd; Wright rejoined them as a session musician and, later, a band member. The three produced two more albums: A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994), and toured through 1994. This great quality bootleg catches them in the midst of The Division Bell US tour in 1994.

 Pink Floyd – 1981.06.17 – Earls Court Exhibition Centre,  London England

In 1978 Roger Waters wrote two complete concept demos, he played every instrument on them and did all the singing. He presented them both to the band. One was called “The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking”, the other was “The Wall”. The band deems the Hitchhiking demo as unlistenable. To my knowledge that demo has never been made publicly available.  The Wall went through at least two demo stages. The original demo version included lyrics like “I am a physician / who can handle your condition / like a magician” which were completely discarded and rewritten.

The Wall album was released in 1979 and may well be Pink Floyd’s greatest achievment, as well as one of the greatest achievments in rock music and live concert production.Pink_Floyd_1981_rear

The live performance of The Wall required two complete bands. The actual Pink Floyd band which was Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason.

The second band was;
Andy Bown on bass.  Snowy White on guitar. Willie Wilson on drums. And Peter Wood on keyboards.

Pat Travers – 2009.02.25 – Rockline Studio, Los Angeles CA

Pat Travers is a CaPat_Travers_2009_frontnadian born rocker. He moved to London for a few years early in his carreer, then to Florida where he still resides. He released his first album, titled “Pat Travers” in 1976 at the age of 22. Since then he has recorded and released at least 35 albums, yet many people still have no idea who he is. Pat Travers has been called the “best kept secret in rock and roll.” In my opinion Pat Travers is a true Guitar Hero.

Pat_Travers_2009_rearRockline was a radio syndicated show hosted by Bob Coburn that was broadcast live for over 33 years.

This is Pat Travers live in the Rockline Studio in 2009. Beginning with a brief interview.
