Huge Chicago upload

I’m somewhat amazed that the server QA/QC Engineer, Ed Wilhelm missed the fact that the Chicago discography seemed to have not been restored after the huge hard drive crash back in Milford.  (Since then, I have put in place a Linux dar script to automate backups on the server.)  I realized this while talking with my colleague from work Dan about the band Chicago.  So, I sent to the server a Chicago discography from 1969 to 2015, totaling over 2200 files, including remastered albums, as well as a few box sets, and all of the cover art.  The server now has crossed the 60,000 mark, with over 57,000 in the playlist (over 3000 currently in ‘request only’)….  Here is a listing of the albums that I added:

More server mp3 replacements and additions

Well, once again, my Server QA/QC Engineer,  Ed Wilhelm seems to like keeping me busy.  Utilizing a few tools, he uncovered some minor errors in the Van Halen albums.  The tools he utilized were, MP3 Test, which can be found HERE as well as the Linux tool MP3Diags, which can be found HERE.  I have used MP3Diags in the past.  It is open source, compared to the other tool MP3 Test.  According to Ed, they both yielded similar results, showing the Van Halen albums had minor errors, but they couldn’t be detected audibly.  However, I decided to replace them.  I moved the original files into the mp3-replaced directory as in the past.  There were a couple albums that weren’t in the new discography, so I put them in the Van Halen OLD directory.  The Van Halen is now categorized into COMPILLATIONS, LIVE, ORIGINAL. and REMASTERED.  I also sent up four Gary Hoey albums.   Below is the listing of what was sent to the server today.  Hopefully, these will pass Ed’s exhaustive testing….  😉

Kinks and Styx catalog replacement updates

Well, my resident QA/QC checker, Ed Wilhelm, found a couple problems with a Kinks album as well as a Styx album.  One notable problem was a weird one indeed….  (The Great Lost Kinks Album every song was the song Rosemary Rose, even though each file was tagged/renamed differently, and all had different file sizes.  No idea how that one happened.)  So, I took this opportunity to replace both of the entire discographies.  The replacements are a higher quality and also have cover art, where the original ones did not measure up.   Ed is a classmate from my Tehran American School days in the mid seventies, and  says upon his retirement, he intends to listen to the entire server’s music catalog.  This will be a huge undertaking, as with average song times, there is about 180 days of 24/7 listening there.  So, if a person were to listen to it 4 hours a day, for every day, I estimate it will take THREE full years to make it through the music.  Keep on Rockin’ Ed!  😎

2018 Massive server update part 3 (Bootlegs)

Okay, boys and girls.  As promised, here’s the third update.  As if the last two updates totalling 10,000 weren’t enough, I dug out about 1750 bootleg files…. Everything’s still in the ‘landing zones’, and it will most likely be a couple weeks before I put everything in the proper directories.  Maybe sooner, if I get motivated.  🙂

I added these regular albums:

Greta Van Fleet – 2017 – Black Smoke Rising (EP)

Greta Van Fleet – 2017 – From The Fires

(Greta Van Fleet is a great, new band from Michigan that has hit the scene.  Three of them are brothers, and I think they are destined to go places.)
