Real Debrid Back Up

Real Debrid was not working from about 0600 on 22 Nov., until the evening hours of 23 Nov. Seems they only took it down until they became compliant. Below is a text of their news release explaining it. Real Debrid is once again handing out links in Xenon, or whichever Kodi build you happen to be using. So, if it’s acceptable to you, you should be able to continues using it.  Remember to be behind a VPN!

Following a formal notice from the FNEF (https://fnef.fr/les-adherents/), Real-Debrid is strengthening its anti-piracy measures.

As you already know, we actively comply with DMCA and are already blocking a certain number of infringing torrents.

In the coming hours:
– audiovisual files available on a number of cyberlockers listed on the USTR blacklist or listed in the European “Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List” will all be blocked.
– a filtering by file name will also be applied, in accordance with the request of the FNEF, this may unfortunately lead to false positives that we will process manually.
– a blocking of all torrents hashes of private torrent trackers mentioned in cases at the Paris judicial court
– a complete purge of files potentially cached on the previously mentioned criteria
– the deactivation of the API endpoint /instantAvaibility
– a blocking of counterfeit Kodi / Stremio applications to the extent that they are identifiable

Real Debrid Down

I understand that it’s been quite some time since I made a blog post, but in the late summer, I had  a total hip replacement and I’m still recovering.  But, this is some important info about Real Debrid.

You don’t need to be using one of the fine Xenon builds, but if your Kodi build uses Real Debrid in order to scrape your links, be advised that yesterday, due to legal issues in France, Real Debrid is down for all purposes.

So, the next best alternative is to set up an account in All Debrid, as long as your build supports it.  Xenon does. You go about authorising it in the same fashion that you did with Real Debrid, so I won’t go into it here.

I tested it today and here are the results:

If behind a VPN, you can’t set up a tryme free account, so I opted for a 1 month account for about $4. You need to set that up without VPN, then log in again when behind your VPN in order to authorise THAT IP address. After, you sign up, and your IP address is authorised, auth it in your build, then reset the build and start it back up.  At that point, All Debrid should be doing what Real Debrid did. So, if you prefer to use a VPN as I do, everything should be okay.  However, you will need to check whether yours is compatible..

All Debrid is very similar to Real Debrid, meaning that you can download videos that you have previously streamed (or simply just started to stream), or just stream the links on your android box or fire stick or tablet, or whatever. The cost is very similar, too. Around $18 for six months.

Weather issue with KODI

A little bit ago, Kodi 21.0 hit the Google Play Store, so if your device hasn’t automatically updated it, head to the play store and do it.  If you are using a build like XENON, or similar that has a weather banner powered by Multi Weather, it has been marked as broken in the Kodi Repository. This is due to Yahoo suckiness and not sharing their weather. So, you probably noticed that your weather banner no longer is showing.

Easy to fix, just go to kodi settings, under services and change the weather service to Gismeteo.  After you do that, you will need to configure the city location that you wish to display.

Kodi/XBMC 20.5 Released

About a week ago, another version of Kodi/XBMC was released.  Even though 20.3 was supposed to be the last stable release until 21 is released, they had released 20.4 a month or so ago.  It was to address some bugs, but didn’t get put in the play store, so it had to be side loaded.

When they released 20.5, they called it the current stable version, so now it’s in the play store.  I certainly haven’t noticed any problems with it.  I tested it on Android OS 10, 11, and 12. So, if you want to get caught up, head to the play store, login and update it.  Should be painless. Or, you can just wait until the next update of the build that you are using, and upgrade it through the play store then.  😉
